  Structure of Test:

Critical Reading (70 min):
Two 25-minute sections and
one 20-minute section.
Tests passage-based reading comprehension and sentence completions.

Mathematics (70 min):
Two 25-minute sections
and one 20-minute section.
Multiple-choice and
student-response format.
Covers number operations,
algebra, geometry, probability
and statistics, and data analysis.

Writing (60 min):
Multiple choice questions
(35 min) and student-written
essay (25 min). Covers
vocabulary, grammar (written
portion only), usage, and
word choice.

Experimental (25 min):
An extra section that does not
count towards student's score.
May be a critical reading,
mathematics, or multiple-choice
writing section.

English (45 min):
Tests punctuation, grammar
and usage, sentence structure, and rhetorical skills.

Math (60 min):
Tests algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

Reading (35 min):
Tests reading comprehension.
Contextual basis may be in
s ocial studies, natural sciences, prose fiction, or the humanities.

Science Reasoning (35 min):
Tests scientific skills such as interpretation, analysis, evaluation, reasoning, and problem-solving.

Writing (30 min):
Optional section. Required by some schools.

  Retaking the test: All scores will be sent to
selected colleges
for both
reasoning test and the subject
test. Most colleges will take the
best scores from each section.
Students can choose which scores to send to colleges of their choice.
